I'm a bat not a rat.  Why do humans rant?
I have wings but don't be perturbed I'm not a bird.
I'm a mammal but to most in the night I'm a blur, although I have fur.
They think I suck their blood but all I do is eat bugs.
I fly at night so for some that's a scary site
You use pesticides to poison your hides
Where I eat all the pests without a jest
So if you see a bat which is a rare site being we fly at night
Say a prayer that no harm comes to them from an owl or a cat that's out of site
that he will take care of your property from nasty bites from mosquitoes to lice
In my quest for food each night I eat over 1000 bugs per hour
Although I might devour  a quarter of my weight each night I stay quite  slight
Otherwise I wouldn't be able to take flight
I do fret that people want to make me a pet
But they must realize that wilds animals are not in disguise we bite and fight to be free
So be happy to see in your yard where the bugs flee and we eat the pests you don't see
